Caroline Peters

Career Synopsis

Caroline qualified as a social worker in 1998. Prior to this she worked in a factory for a leading shirt manufacturer. During this time she also worked for a local charity in her home – town in Northern Ireland – which took children in need away on activity holidays. Caroline then decided to backpack through Europe, Israel, South East Asia Australia New Zealand and America. During her travels Caroline worked in various jobs such as flower picking, making components for cotton picking machines and kitchen and dining room duties while working as a volunteer in a Kibutz.

On qualifying Caroline initially worked in generic adults social work teams both in hospital and the community. In 2003 Caroline made the decision to develop her career to become a manager, undertaking further training to support this. In 2005 she obtained the Certificate in Health and Social Care Management.

Caroline’s interest in the development of sound standards of practice influenced her to completed a Practice Teacher qualification in 2010.  This has enabled her to mentor and manage students and further enhance her social work, management and supervisory skills. Recognising that the process of change in health and social care was likely to continue Caroline went on in 2011 to complete a Project Management qualification.

Since qualification as a social worker, Caroline has had a keen interest in safeguarding adults and in working in partnership with health, police, housing and voluntary organisations.
