Kerry is a qualified Social Worker and has worked in social care since 1995, specialising in work with Older People, Adult with Dementia and Adults with Physical Disabilities. Kerry has worked in residential care, community teams and in acute and community hospital settings. Kerry has experience in care management, personal budgets and brokerage. She also has experience in safeguarding adults and continuing health care assessments.
Kerry left working for Social Services to set up her own business, ‘Help for Care’. As a Social Work consultant Kerry works with clients who are funding their own care who need the support and experience from a social care professional. Social Services have very limited time and resources to support individuals who fund their own care, which makes it a real challenge to know how to set up the right package to meet their individual needs. Kerry is able to bridge this gap ensuring that essential support is set up in a personalised and timely way, reducing the stress on individuals when they are at their most vulnerable.
Kerry is a qualified Best Interest Assessor, undertaking Best Interest and Mental Capacity Assessments under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Kerry has delivered training in care homes on the Mental Capacity Act (including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards) to ensure staff are aware of their legal and moral responsibilities when working with people who lack capacity. Kerry has also devised and delivered training on specialist dementia care, ‘Feelings Matter Most’. Her passion and enthusiasm is infectious and she has helped inspire change ensuring professional carers are working in the most respectful and supportive way for people in their care.
